Abstract

This work addresses the calculation of the total radiative power loss (RPL) of optically thin hot plasmas. General global formulas have been derived for expanding the RPL of the ( n) N superconfigurations, both with and without accounting for the configuration–interaction effects, in terms of the results for a few small values of N. We present the first results for the most-populated superconfigurations of highly-charged Iron ions. It is remarkable that the configuration effects contribute for less than 3% of the total RPL value.
