Abstract
Calculations show that configuration mixing in the 16O ground state can account for alpha -particle strengths to the 5p-1h states in 20Ne, but not for the 3He cluster strengths to 4p-1h states in 19Ne. These are, however, consistent with published wavefunctions which include configuration mixing in the 19Ne negative-parity states.
