Abstract

The author describes the Networked Automated Versioning Environment (NAVE), a configuration management system that meets the requirements of a heterogeneous environment by supporting three different types of workstations for software and firmware development using six languages, for three different execution architectures. NAVE maintains a set of integrated configuration management (CM) tools that impose CM disciplines on files under its control. It provides the following CM designer functions to all host machines; create, fetch, promote, unfetch, and CM list. The system model is also a configuration that is controlled by NAVE, which makes it possible to track and control the method of load building and changes to it. >
