Abstract

A model of a configurable remote fault diagnosis system (FDS), with modules encapsulated into a software intelligent chip (SIC), is proposed. All the SICs of such a system are driven by the system data, the collected data of fault device or the data engendered during the diagnosing process. A prototype software platform for customizing FDS, include a system developer and a system builder, is developed. With the developer, a user can conveniently design their specific FDS to meet with the different requirements of diagnosis applications and flexibly configure the SICs of the FDS accordant with the logical diagnosing procedure. With the system builder, the configuration scheme of specific FDS completed with the developer can be loaded and then a practical FDS will be constructed to serve as the fault device. As an example, a case-based reasoning FDS is developed with the platform. The result shows that it is feasible and reliable .
