Abstract
The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of samarium soaps (valerate, caproate and caprylate) in methanol have been determined by conductometric measurements. The value of the CMC decreases with increasing chain length of the fatty acid component. The molar conductance at infinite dilution, degree of ionisation and ionisation constant have been evaluated. The results show that samarium soaps behave as weak electrolytes in dilute solutions.
