Abstract

We have investigated the connection between changes in surface conductivity of ZnO with chemisorbed oxygen, and the number of gas molecules photodesorbed with band-gap illumination. Experiments under UHV conditions with powdered samples show that the initial stages of photodesorption are not described by a simple electron transfer mechanism, while later stages can be reasonably well explained in that way.
