Abstract

Accurate viscosity and permittivity data are reported for the organic solvent system propylene carbonate + acetonitrile covering the solvent composition range from pure propylene carbonate to pure acetonitrile at temperatures from − 35 to 35°C. Accurate density and conductivity data were determined for solutions of LiClO 4 in these solvents covering the whole concentration range from infinite dilution to saturation. Evaluation of the limiting conductivity Λ 0 and the association constant K A is performed on the basis of a conductivity equation that includes concentration terms up to c 3 2 . Concentrated solutions are analysed in terms of the Casteel—Amis equation. Correlations of limiting conductivity Λ 0 versus the maximum specific conductivity ϰ max and of ϰ max versus the molality μ at maximum specific conductivity are discussed.
