Abstract

This paper presents experimental results of measurements of the conductivity of a plasma channel produced by a high-current relativistic electron beam (REB) in a gas mixture N2:O2 of various pressures. It is found that the high-current REB with electron energy (1−1.2) x 106 eV, beam current Ib=(1.2−2.4) x 104 A and duration 60 x 10-9 s produces a plasma with a high conductivity level remaining until 800 x 10-9 s under P=1−150 Torr. The experimental results obtained are discussed.
