Abstract

Conduction electron paramagnetic resonance was observed in concentrated alkali metal-ammonia solutions. The lineshape is Dysonian, and by analysis of the lineshape the diffusion time, relaxation time, and g shift were determined. In these solutions the relaxation time and g shift increase exponentially with the atomic number of the metal. The results of this study indicate that the spin-orbit relaxation mechanism is dominant. The relaxation time and g shift are discussed in detail and are compared to analogous studies on the alkali metals as well as other systems.
