Abstract

Abstract The chapter focuses on the practical aspects of conducting cost and cost-effectiveness analyses. It presents two illustrative examples: (1) a cost analysis of programs supporting orphans and other vulnerable children in Uganda, and (2) a cost-effectiveness analysis of a girl-friendly school infrastructure program in Burkina Faso. For each case, the author describes how the study operationalized the various methodological considerations, the type of stakeholder engagements that were necessary, how data were collected, and how the analyses were carried out. The chapter provides a summary of the findings and reflects on the practical lessons learned from the operations and modalities of doing the analysis in these applications.
