Abstract

Much attention has been given to EMI problems generated in variable speed AC drive systems. Zero switching states of PWM inverter generate large common mode voltage. This paper focuses on the voltage modulation in order to mitigate common mode voltage. It shows that the common mode voltage can be reduced much more by choosing the PWM switching method in which each carrier wave is 120 degrees out of phase. To demonstrate the practical significance of our results, we presented some simulation and experimental results.
