Abstract

The article examines the formation and further development of state-confessional and interfaith relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan since its Independence. The main research attention is dedicated to the study of the issue of ensuring stability and sustainability in the religious sphere and to the question of how the state policy is built in the country in order to ensure peace and harmony in a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional society. As a methodology, monitoring and comprehensive analysis of normative legal acts, materials of state policy in the religious sphere, data from sociological research are used; on the basis of those materials an assessment of the effectiveness of the implementation of state policy and forecast of the potential future situation shall be given. The materials of the current research made it possible to point out the problematic aspects in the field of religious activity, taking into account external and internal factors, and to propose measures to solve them.
