Abstract

The results of an experiment that simulate broken rotor bars and stator inter-turn short of a squirrel cage induction motor represent differences of the pattern and magnitude of a torque waveform due to the air gap magneto motive force deterioration, showing a dominant peak during severe stator winding fault. This will be a practical indicator of the large induction motor with faults in the nuclear power plant that has many induction motors to the important safety during normal operation and accidents. The modeling of the broken rotor bars and winding faults was used to verify the theoretical background on the various faulty conditions in which torque characteristics with waveform and ripple magnitude depicted the equipment conditions.
