Abstract

Many technological advancements are happening in day-to-day life for the better living standard along with safety and security. IoT is one of development in wireless communication. In this paper, the idea of Gas leakage detection with an alert system using Internet of things has been showed up. There are many gases which are harmful to life that surround us which may go unnoticed. Households, workers in the industrial plant and oil refineries, if any gas leakage happens over their concerned areas and if the gases are inflammable there will be a loss of human life. So, this paper proposes a setup which can alert us whenever gas spillage happens. In this paper, Arduino Nano is used. MQ-2 Gas sensor which detects the gases like LPG, Carbon Monoxide, etc. is connected to Arduino Nano. Arduino Nano interfaces with GSM module along with 16x2 LCD display. GSM module alerts the person by calling & sending an alert SMS. If gas leakage took place, the system detects it and immediately generates an alert signal by beeping the buzzer thereby glowing the LED attached with the MCU and by displaying the warning message on LCD. Green and Red LEDs are used to indicate the gas leakage.
