Abstract

The article presents a brief overview of the literature of the Portuguese language in Poland during the communist period, as well as exposes the conditions of the publishing market of that period. The thesis of the text is that it was the policy of the governing communist party that influenced the choices of titles and authors to publish in light of political events in Portugal and its overseas territories in Africa (later PALOP) and in Brazil.

Evidentemente, além destas duas séries, apareceram também livros fora de séries, mas eram casos raros e sem grande influência nos leitores, incomparáveis com os livros das ditas séries, mas temos de admitir que, das duas, o impacto da série latino-americana foi, sem dúvida, maior — esta foi, talvez, a série mais popular de todas as que foram publicadas na Polónia

Introduction

The article presents a brief overview of the literature of the Portuguese language in Poland during the communist period, as well as exposes the conditions of the publishing market of that period. Seja como for, a partir daqui pouco há que valha a pena mencionar sobre a literatura de língua portuguesa na Polónia antes de 1945, mesmo estando ciente de que uma investigação aprofundada deste período, no que se refere às traduções do português, poderia trazer algumas surpresas; de qualquer forma, estas não seriam numerosas.
