Abstract

1. The prolonged testing (about 5500 freezing and thawing cycles converted to standard cycles) of numerous samples and of a portion of a thin-walled member built with concrete having the same proportions as the concrete in the powerhouse confirms the high frost resistance of the adopted mix. 2. The concrete placing techniques experimentally developed during the construction of the plant permitted conserving all the basic properties of the recommended stiff mix, when placed at great depths in the complex thin-walled, heavily reinforced members. 3. The concrete mix and the placing techniques used at the Kislogubsk tidal electric plant may be successfully applied in the construction of reinforced-concrete structures under severe climatic conditions.
