Abstract

In Britain, little attention has been paid to the influence of the concrete encasement on the performance of historic steel-framed buildings, nor how their details may influence their refurbishment. This paper aims to provide some guidance on their unusual characteristics, which require careful consideration when assessing and modifying these structures.
