Abstract

My aim now is to create the strongest possible version of the subtraction argument based on the developments we have made in the preceding chapters. This means looking back at the problems I have found for the nihilist in some of the previous chapters and adjusting the arguments for nihilism so that these criticisms are, as far as possible, avoided. In parallel with this I will be considering the arguments of those philosophers who disagree with metaphysical nihilism. We will see how the subtraction argument in this, its strongest form, fares against these criticisms.
