Abstract
Concomitant pertrochanteric and subcapital fracture on the same side of the hip is rare. There have been only a few documented cases of combined intertrochanteric and subcapital fracture of the hip. This is an unusual case of combined ipsilateral pertrochanteric and subcapital fracture of the hip in a 54-year-old male. The mechanism of injury in this case was entirely different from the usual mechanism of injuries reported in the literature for the same type of fracture. The outcome of open reduction and internal fixation of this complex fracture with a dynamic hip compression screw was satisfactory.
