Abstract

The inclusivity of minority groups is a hallmark of excellent social work education enriching the experience of staff and students and preparing social workers for our increasing diverse, challenging, and discriminatory world. In addition, the role of social work education would be to further the cause of anti-oppressive, anti-discriminatory practice at a time when sections of our communities promote hate, discrimination, oppression through individual and systemic acts or omissions. Social and physical distancing, remote and agile working underpinned by to growing use of technology may become the reality within which social workers practice. How these changes will positively influence social work practice with minority groups remains unknown however what is clear is that enhancing social work students’ consciousness, knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards difference and diversity remains central.
