Abstract

This chapter summarizes the main developments in renaissance rhetoric and offers suggestions and bibliography on the impact of rhetorical training on renaissance reading, practical behaviour, and culture. It discusses the seven characteristics of renaissance rhetoric identified in the present study as well as the five common features of later renaissance rhetoric, which could be regarded as developments from earlier renaissance rhetoric. It concludes with a list of twenty projects (and genres of project) which would greatly enhance our knowledge of renaissance rhetoric.
