Abstract

Abstract The conclusion summarizes the findings from digital analysis, depth psychology, and religious studies as applied to the seven dream journalists. Several limitations of the book’s analysis are noted here, including the key point that not everyone who keeps a dream journal necessarily experiences any spiritual stimulation. But the evidence presented here shows that for many people, keeping a dream journal does become a source of religious insight and creative engagement with the world. In their unusual combination of the religious attributes of individualism, mysticism, and pluralism, the seven dream journalists and those like them can be characterized as “free spirits,” following a lifelong path of religious adventure that unfolds in and is illuminated by their dreams.
