Abstract

We have considered in the present book the phenomenon of decoherence as a realization of a quantum measurement and vice versa: continuous quantum measurements as a phenomenological description of gradual decoherence. Theory of continuous quantum measurements developed on the basis of restricted path integrals (RPI) became thus the phenomenological theory of gradual decoherence. The RPI formalism has been demonstrated to be conceptually significant: it shows how information about the state of a quantum system governs its dynamics.
