Abstract

In the creative legacy left by the founders of Marxism-Leninism, there are a number of specific works and highly significant statements about the War of 1812—what caused it, its purpose, the major events and personages, its results, consequences, and importance. There are, in particular, special works like Barclay de Tolly by K. Marx and F. Engels and Borodino by Engels. Also extremely important are methodological assessments of the War of 1812 in Marx's cycle of articles entitled Revolutionary Spain [Revoliutsionnaia Ispaniia] (the second article being of particular interest to us), Engels's work The Foreign Policy of Russian Tsarism [Vneshniaia politika russkogo tsarizma], and in three works by V.I. Lenin, "On Iunius's Pamphlet" [O broshiure Iuniusa], "Impending Disaster and How To Deal With It" [Groziashchaia katastrofa i kak s nei borot'sia], and "Unhappy Peace" [Neschastnyi mir].
