Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to integrate the transformative service research (TSR) concept into a supply chain management (SCM) concept called a transformative supply chain (TSC) to transform the focus point of SCM from profitability to sustainability and ensure the well-being of an ecosystem. The study focuses on the components and interactions of each entity of a supply chain and explores how to transform conventional supply chains into TSCs by using a transformative service platform. An in-depth interview was conducted with a high-level manager at the Royal Project Foundation in Thailand to validate the TSC concept with reference to a real business situation. The results demonstrate that TSC requires collaboration and resource integration among the various stakeholders of an ecosystem. The TSC framework can serve as a guideline for both academic research and practical applications for constructing a supply chain that prioritizes the well-being of humans and nature over profit. The process, key considerations, and principles of TSC form the key contribution of this study.
