Abstract

Deductive databases are based on first order logic, which can be used to express databases, queries, integrity constraints, views and programs. Although extensive research has been done in the field of deductive databases, little consideration has been given to a formal organization of the information being represented. A new conceptual schema formalism, based directly on first order logic, is described together with its definition in logic. The graphical representation for this formalism provides the basis for a simple, consise graphical query language with the expressive power of first order logic.
