Abstract

Green logistics is gaining more and more attention due to increasingly intense environmental concerns, playing an important role in the sustainable development of the logistics industry. The essence of green logistics is to pursue economic benefits without damaging the ecological environment and to ensure economic and social development while protecting the environment. The ultimate goal of green logistics is to achieve economic, social and environmental coordination, as well as sustainable development. Therefore, green logistics is an inevitable trend in sustainable development. The aim of this paper is to identify various conceptual approaches to green logistics, pinpoint its environmental impact in the context of sustainable development, as well as to highlight that green logistics is the imperative choice for sustainable development, as this concept is not only limited to the environmental footprint, but also involves the economic and social sustainability of companies’ logistics activities.
