Abstract

This paper presents the shorted annular patch (SAP) antenna on an electrically conducting cylinder. The SAP antenna has been credited with superior multipath suppressing properties which makes it interesting for global navigation satellite system (GNSS) applications. GNSS applications demand integration of filters and low noise amplifiers as close to the radiating structure as possible. To this goal, the SAP is mounted on an electrically conducting cylinder which serves as a quality shielded housing for accompanying electronics.
