Abstract

The main aim of Ayurveda is to accomplish the physical, mental, social and spiritual well being. Ahara plays an important role in the preventive aspect as well as in the treatment of illness. It plays an important role in establishing the phenomena of wear and tear, process of growth and repair supply of energy. Wholesome diet is the prime factor for the growth and development of the body; on the contrary, unwholesome diet causes several diseases. Wholesomeness of Ahara varies from each and every person. Acarya Caraka has described eight factors as Ahara Vidhi Viśeṣayatanani in Vimansthana 1st chapter [1], which are guidelines for the selection of wholesome diet. Everything should be logical and scientific in research work. Present era demands some conceptual, observational and practical data-based work to prove and establish any concept. In the present study, an effort has been made to emphasize the eight factors of Aṣṭau Ahara Vidhi Viśeṣayatanani and its practical utilization. In the Aṣṭau Ahara Vidhi Viśeṣayatanani, the factor of Karaṇa would be much more highlighted practically in the means of YavaguAhara Kalpana.
