Abstract

This article presents a concept, prototype, and tests of a system for modification of the metrological characteristics of heat meters. The system increases the measuring range of heat meter, especially with regard to low heat consumption. The article also presents the methodology of laboratory tests carried out on the system, along with a diagram of the test stand and its description. The results of empirical studies confirming the efficiency of the new system for measuring heat consumption on non-residential premises are presented in tables and graphs; a summary of the above is also included in the conclusions. The proposed measurement system enhancement is an answer to the needs of the construction market, especially after the adoption of Directive 2012/27/EU by the European Parliament. The directive obliges EU member states to allocate individual heating costs in multi-family buildings based on registered consumption.
