Abstract

Research on the content of chlorophyll-a phytoplankton is one of the tools to measure the fertility of a waters. The purpose of this study, namely: to determine the fertility of the waters based on the spatial distribution of chlorophyll-a concentration in the waters of Gerupuk Bay. Water samples were taken twice, in April and September 2015. The analytical method used to calculate the chlorophyll a content was “Spectrophotometry” referring to the 2005 APHA. The results showed that the fertility of Gerupuk Bay waters based on chlorophyll a content is classified as oligotrophic less fertile). The phytoplankton classes found consisted of the Baccilariophyceae class; 29 genera and class Dinophyceae: 3 genera.
