Abstract
Concentration of 90Sr and 137Cs released in the gaseous effluents from a research reactor is evaluated from the measurement of their gaseous precursors namely 90Kr and 137Xe respectively. An on-line measuring system comprising of a sampling head and a portable HPGe detector coupled to a 4K MCA has been used for the measurement of concentration of these gases. A double filter method has been used to verify the measurement of 90Kr concentration. It is based on programmed counting of its daughter 90Rb. There is good agreement between the results of on-line and double filter methods.
