Abstract

Sodium octanoate micelles have been studied by neutron small-angle scattering at surfactant concentrations up to 1.2 M. The data were analysed using a roughened two-shell model, making quantitative allowance for intermicellar correlations. We find that the aggregation number increases from 15 ± 1 at 0.6 M to 23 ± 1 at 1.2 M.
