Abstract

The formation of calcium and magnesium tartrate complexes was studied by potentiometric titration at ionic strengths of 0.1 and 0.3 (in the presence of tetraethylammonium chloride) at a temperature of 298.15 K. The composition and the stability constants of the complexes formed in the system were determined. The known stability constants were used to optimize the conditions of calorimetric determination of the heats of formation of calcium and magnesium tartrates in an aqueous solution.
