Abstract
During a period of 13 months (from March 1986 to March 1987) the size distribution and concentration of atmospheric particles in the size range from 0.05 to 25 μm were measured on the western coast of the Baltic Sea. The average particle concentration for the period was 65 μgm −3. The fine particle fraction (0.05–0.4 μm) was 70% of the total concentration. The highest concentrations were usually recorded for southeasterly to southwesterly winds. Wet removal processes play an important role in explaining the variation of particle concentration and size distribution.
