Abstract

Abstract Densities of aqueous KCl–KBr and NaBr–KBr mixtures are reported from the ionic strengths 0.5 to 4 mol kg−1 of water. The results are analyzed in the light of Pitzer theory of specific interactions. The deviations of experimental quantities from the Young rule (excess volumes) are discussed in terms of interactions between the ions of like charges. The excess volumes showed weak dependence on temperature.
