Abstract

AbstractMultipulse signaling applied to optical communication channels has become known as a bandwidth efficient signaling format [1]. However, to achieve reliable communication in noisy channels we must resort to some sort of coding. In this article, concatenated coding, recommended by the Consultive Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS), is investigated [2] and compared to the standard Reed‐Solomon coding of pulse position modulation signaling.
