Abstract
CLINICIANS HAVE DEBATED the relative merits of intravenous solutions such as crystalloids (normal saline [NS] and Ringer's lactate [RL]) and colloids (human albumin [HA]) for many years.1-8 The benefits of each class have been discussed in various clinical situations, including perioperative intravenous fluid therapy and intravascular volume resuscitation.
