Abstract

Thinking about the multifaceted appropriations and implications of Communication and the media throughout these many moments reveals a significant common understanding: the ever-present importance of public policies and normative frameworks for the formulation and implementation of democratic Communication, as well as the contribution of Communication to the construction of public policies in the most varied contexts. This dossier reinforces this diversity of analyzes around themes that highlight these multiple actions. They address a considerable challenge that is reflected in issues of social participation and its deliberative spaces; socially vulnerable populations, generally made unfeasible and/or stigmatized by the media; the responsible and professional exercise of journalistic activity to strengthen democracy, in addition to seeking a closer dialogue between contexts and networks of countries and regions in Latin America.
