Abstract

The objective of this research was to resolve, theoretically and empirically, what was the intention of President López Obrador willingly facing questions from the press every day during the first part of his period, despite the possible risks that overexposure implies for the image of any person. The theoretical discussion on agenda setting of the issues in the media, and the effects of the messages on the citizenry helped to understand that, beyond reporting the actions of the gover - nment, this communication exercise carried out by amlo was an instrument to raise and defend each step of his transformative project in order to strengthen the legitimacy he obtained when he was elected as the first leftist President in Mexico.
