Abstract

The average symbol error performance of coherent detection of M-ary phase-shift keying (MPSK) signals with receiver imperfections is analyzed for the Rician and Rayleigh fading channels in this paper. Considering phase error, quadrature error, and I-Q gain mismatch, closed-form expressions for the average symbol error rate (SER) are derived. Our new theoretical expressions can offer an effective evaluation of the average SER for an MPSK system with various cases of receiver imperfections both in the Rician and Rayleigh fading channels.
