Abstract
Robotics & Automation have made great strides in the last two decades and are being successfully deployed in Indian manufacturing Industries especially in Automobile Sector. This paper tries to high light the major issues, critical to successful implementation of Automation and a few thrust areas of activities that need to be looked upon in the immediate future. The paper further lists out the various levels of automation for the efficient CAD/CAM implementation and analyses the thrust areas of Robotics and its application that utilize the manpower efficiently: Of late, manufacturing Industry in India has demonstrated their capabilities to deliver quality but there are areas with scope for improvement. This paper is an attempt to highlight various issues during design, development and application of Robotics. The challenge before the Indian Industry is to rise to expectations of their customers by adopting the business practices that can deliver quality.
