Computerized inventorying of museum collections in Africa

Abstract

One of the most significant aspects of the AFRICOM Programme developed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) is the project to establish computerized inventories of museum collections in Africa. Considered as a top priority by African museum professionals, the project is an ambitious effort to strengthen links between museums throughout the entire continent and to combat the illicit traffic in Africa's cultural heritage.
