Abstract

Ni-porphyrins separated from Tertiary oil and shale in Liaohe basin, east China, as (TBDMSO) 2 derivatives, have been analysed by C-GC-MS and are recognized to contain more than sixty porphyrins which mainly belong to aetio and DPEP types. The data processing of porphyrins ina personal computer (IBM PC-AT) supplied the plots of carbon number of porphyrins vs Kovat's retention index and the fingerprint plots. These plots have been used in oil-source correlation and the assessments of maturity and sedimental environment for Liaohe basin samples. The distribution of petroporphyrins relates to both maturity and depositional environnment.
