Abstract

Office automation includes four major groups of tools: telecommunications, text handling, information retrieval and analytical or decision support tools. This article reviews the variety of telecommunications tools and then discusses within a detailed framework one example of particular interest to user managers — computer-based message systems. Thus a guide is presented enabling potential users to assess the benefits of the various commercial message systems available.
