Abstract

Summary form only given. The author describes how he is currently developing multimedia interactive tutorials for an electrical engineering lab course which incorporate instructions for each lab experiment control and data acquisition capabilities, and a knowledge-base of answers to common questions. Students may use the software at several levels. That is, they may use it as a strict tutorial which leads them step-by-step through sample experiments, as simply a data acquisition and control program, as a searchable knowledge-base for answers to frequently asked questions, or as a combination. These tutorials are being developed using Macromedia Director Studio, Visual Basic, Visual C++ and LabWindows/CVI running on multimedia Pentium PCs with National Instruments GPIB controllers and data acquisition boards.
