Abstract

In computerized language assessment, formative assessment presently turns out to be one of the major areas of use. The saying paper is intended to give a brief review of certain issues involving application of computer-assisted formative assessment (CAFA) in the field of Language Assessment in terms of (1) historical perspectives embodied in development from computer-assisted assessment (CAA) to computer-assisted language assessment (CALA) then to internet or web-assisted assessment; (2) effectiveness issues in computerized formative assessment in the area of Language E-Assessment; (3) Forms and tools (E-work and E-portfolio) existing for us to employ this innovative approach for language assessment, for there are several areas where we are still in need of better understanding the computerized language assessment.
