Abstract

Eskom Western Cape Protection Engineers developed the LISA software program in 1991 to calculate protective gear relay settings on radial farmer systems up to 22 kV. An accurate, neat, and time-saving application, it now is an integral part of the rural relay setting calculation process. The program is also widely used throughout Eskom to train new engineers in protection relay settings. The Turbo Pascal software program is continuously updated with new data on the latest available protection equipment and is regularly put through quality tests to ensure program accuracy and user-friendliness. The program runs on any personal computer with either an EGA or a VGA screen.
