Abstract

The Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) is the International Standards Organisation standard that defines the functionality and encoding for pictures stored on computer systems. First published in 1987 as a relatively simple standard, it has since been subject to, and continues to undergo, revision so that its facilities may be developed and extended to support applications. The paper lists and explains the extensions to the standard provided in Amendment 1 and Draft Amendment 3.
