Abstract

A controlled shift down of the specific growth rate in a fed batch culture is proposed for microbial product formation processes. The growth kinetics depend on three preset parameters: initial biomass concentration, initial specific growth rate, and the transient constant (time derivative of the specific growth rate). An experimental example is given.
